The legendary Mariah Carey lit up the stage (and the internet) at the 2025 BET Awards, showing off her dramatic weight loss in two unforgettable outfits. The 56-year-old music legend wowed in a shimmering gold gown and a curve-hugging black ensemble that flaunted her slim new figure.
Fans on X (formerly Twitter) couldn’t stop talking about her radiant appearance and commanding performance of her latest single, 'Type Dangerous', during the star-studded event on Monday, June 9.

The R’n’B icon won the Ultimate Icon Award at the event, and she encouraged her fans to be divas and bosses. In light-hearted reference to her own diva reputation, she said in her speech, “If you’re gonna get one, might as well start with the Ultimate Icon Award.”
The pop singer continued, “My life and career have been quite an adventure. I will spare you the long, drawn-out saga tonight. It’s all in my book anyway. It took me a while, but I finally realized life is far too short to live for anyone else’s approval, which is something I always did. Thank you so much, so I decided to own who I am.”

And just really being thankful for all scenarios, all the moments that come our way.”
